One-liner: Improvised musical collaboration
Silence Quote: “Silence is the potential of sound, and the space for it's birth as creative expression and provocation.”
A FEW WORDS:
This piece of music was born from three musicians' love for expressing and communicating with sound via their chosen instruments. We feel this piece is relevant to the project because it is a 'powerful' piece in the sense that it influences strong emotional reactions, and because throughout there is a strong suggestion of the 'silence' that supports it's animation as creative audio expression.
One-liner: Wind is one of the primal sounds of nature.
Silence Quote: ”Real quiet is presence - not an absence of sound, but an absence of noise.”
A FEW WORDS:
I am acoustic ecologist and care very deeply about quiet. As the Sound Tracker® I have circled the globe three times over the last 30 years in pursuit of Earth’s rarest nature sounds—sounds which can only be fully appreciated in the absence of manmade noise. Silence is an endangered species.

One-liner: Sounds from one of the most silent places on earth, Hoh Rainforest

One-liner: Telephone wire stretches across a wheat farm and vibrates in the wind—sounds like a chorus of chanting Tibetan Monks.

One-liner: A dynamic exploration of surf plucking the inner hollows of a piece of driftwood to make them vibrate like the strings of a violin, recorded at Rialto Beach.

One-liner: Healing sounds/music using Specific Hz frequencies to aid consciousness expansion.
Silence Quote: “Silence; Is the the potential of all sound just as the darkness of the womb gives birth and Dark Matter nourishes what we experience as matter. Silence is also the rests between the musical notes and the beats of drums Thus giving it meaning.”
A FEW WORDS:
This Music was created in Connection to "THE TEMPLATE" work to help Integrate the information assimilated in this ceremonial process. However it is also a stand alone Musical experience that reconnects Our Mind Body and spirit to a broader spectrum of Natural Frequencies generally left out of 440 tuning and equal temperament Scales.

One-liner: A fixed media sound piece created using custom software written in Max/MSP
Silence Quote: ”The “power” of silence lies in the vacuum created by nothingness. Silence can only be followed by non-silence and it is the transitional moment that straddles the anticipation of the listener and the manifestation of sound.”
A FEW WORDS:
Valuri was created using custom software written in Max/MSP. The patch generates several periodic waveforms and white noise. Wave generators are activated by randomly determined amplitude envelopes that consider logarithmic, exponential and linear slopes, and varying ramp and sustain times. Similar processes determine frequency and spatialization to create a continually evolving sonority. The Hegelian idea that "nothing" or non-being can be deduced from "being" produced a third concept, "becoming," representing the movement of the mind from one pole to the other. The concept of becoming, unifies being and nothingness. Valuri is a sonic world that explores this notion of becoming. Continual movement, roving the gray between black and white. As with a body of water, subtle movement can be perceived as static, yet stasis can be in perpetual motion.
One-liner: Sounds of water drops made with human voice
Silence Quote: ”For me silence is resting time for the ears - as a musician and choir director I need to use my ears a lot.”
A FEW WORDS:
Voice is a very versatile instrument. In folk music singers use their voice in various "ethnical" ways; throat singing, yodeling, overtone singing. An ancient tradition has also been to imitate the sounds of nature. Originally it was believed that humans could magically affect nature through those sounds, for example through making sounds of water drops as part of a "magic rain spell".
One-liner: Japanese and Indian improvisation on bamboo flutes.
Silence Quote: ”Silence is the space between thought. The moment we are free from the mind. That place between what we remember and what we imagine. A place that only exists in the present moment.”
A FEW WORDS:
This is a collection of improvisations that came out of my own mediation practice as well as the Zen and Hindu traditions. I created it to share that inner state within me and to free emotion from deep inside the listener. Most of these pieces are inspired by the zen tradition played in Japan by the Komuso (priests of emptiness). They were Buddhists monks whose method of practice was to empty themselves by playing suizen (blowing meditation). By imitating the sounds of the forest they would move themselves deep into the stillness or silence of present moment. And eventually into nirvana (liberation).
One-liner: Artist Joseph Beuys lecturing in English made nearly incomprehensible by sounds of movement and doors opening and shutting down a long hallway.
Silence Quote: "Silence is a space for raising vibrations. I feel silence when my mind is clear and I am able to be in the present moment enjoying the now."
A FEW WORDS:
The rhythm of this work provides a trance like state for opening expressive thoughts and feelings created from hearing noises. This piece was created to translate the feeling of indecision and demonstrate the mobility we have for creating our own reality. When we open doors to learning environments we escape toxic situations. This piece, inspired by the vision of Joseph Beuys to expose all people to the power of creativity, is relevant to the Power of Sound because it provides a representation of the mental environment designated for "silence" during times of decision making where “The woman/man who deliberates is lost” (Joseph Addison).
A fantastic recording from the space flights of Voyager I & II launched in 1977. The true ambient space sounds that come from electronic vibrations of the planets, moons and rings, electromagnetic fields of the planets and moons, planetary magnetosphere, trapped radio waves bouncing between the planet and the inner surface of it's atmosphere, charged particle interactions of the planet, it's moons and the solar wind, and from charged particle emissions from the rings of certain planets. All sounds are space sounds, there are no engine sounds from the space probes.
